Chris Johnson, a specialist in firestopping products has been promoted to the position of Principal Cetification Engineer with Warrignton Certification Limited (WCL)

With extensive experience in the preparation of technical assessments for a wide range of construction products as well as fire resistance tests to both British Standards (BS 476: Parts 20-24 series) and European Standards. Chris has been with the Warrington buisness for more than 13 years and has been promoted from the position of Senior Certification Engineer

Chris has significant experience with a number of fire protection products, but specialises in fire stopping products and contributes his experience by working on several European and UK technical committees relating to this area. He contributes significantly to best practice guidelines for these products and is Chairman of the ASFP Specialist Task Group responsible for producing guidance on fire stopping, which includes responsibility for the so-called Red Book on "Fire Stopping: Linear Joint Seals, Penetration Seals and Small Cavity Barriers".

Chris is currently involved in producing European Technical Approvals (ETA's) for various manufacturers as a pre-cursor to their products 'CE Marking'.

In his new position, Chris will contribute significantly to Warrington Certification's role as the only European Technical Approvals Body specialising in fire protection products. he will continue to contribute his experience to the benefit of the industry using his experience to the benefit of the industry using his experience of technical approvals and third party certification to promote fire safety and installation of fire stopping products. In addition to developing ETA's and CE marking of fire stopping products, Chris will support CERTIFIRE voluntary certification of fire stopping products, which provides an assurance of performance, quality and reliability over and above CE marking.
