The Burning Issue of Certification Top of the Agenda at FIREX South4/20/2010
The team at Warrington Certification has recently returned from a successful trip to FIREX South, a fire exhibition held at Sandown Race Course, where fire certification was very much 'top of the agenda'
The organisers of FIREX have reported their best ever year with 1,353 visitors - 16% up on last year - and the show was a successful vehicle for WCL to promote its three main schemes - CERTIFIRE for products , FIRAS for installers and FRACS, our new programme for the certification of fire risk assessors, explains Andy Kay, Fire Safety Techology's Divisional BDM
As well as having a stand, WCL also hosted a seminar chaired by Andy Kay, focussing on the importance of certification in todays market. Presentations were given by Leigh Hill, WCL's BDM on CERTIFIRE, while Simon Ince, manager of the FRACS Scheme and Ian Woodhouse, Certification Process Manager also gave talks on the benefits of correctly certificated fire risk assesors and the FIRAS scheme.
The vast majoirity of interest both on the stand and questions during the seminar focussed on the FRACS scheme, which has recieved particular interest from the public sector. Local authorities and housing associations have been looking for a nationally recognised competence assessment scheme for some time and FRACS gives real benefits specifiers in the public sector. The fact that the scheme is the only one to be UKAS accredited appeals to Firebuy, the national procurement body and is a unique selling point for WCL, Simon explains.
