LAPI & Exova Warringtonfire fire testing and certification services
Exova Warringtonfire and Laboratorio Prevenzione Incendi s.r.l. (LAPI) are collaborating in the field of fire resistance testing with their laboratory in Calenzano near Florence.
The laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility with fire resistance furnaces and datalogging systems for testing to the latest European fire resistance standards (EN 1363 series) and IMO resolutions. Of particular interest is the use of special tilting (basculante) furnaces which are capable of being used in both horizontal and vertical orientations. The laboratory has two such furnaces, a 1 m x 1 m furnace for exploratory testing and a 3m x 3m furnace for full scale testing. Both furnaces have been specially designed to ensure that they comply with all current and envisaged fire resistance test methods.
Exova Warringtonfire and LAPI have been co-operating under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding since 1998 but have decided to develop the relationship further. The agreement will enable LAPI to develop its testing capability into the area of fire resistance testing and will be able to exploit its capability immediately by calling upon the experience and expertise of Exova Warringtonfire to develop markets in Europe and beyond.
