BeneFEU - Benefits of Fire Safety Engineering in the EU
Introduction
A European Consortium, lead by warrington fire (formerly Warrington Fire Research), has completed a study on the ‘Benefits of Fire Safety Engineering in the European Union’ This study was commissioned by the European Commission DG Enterprise and was designed to evaluate the benefits of initiatives at a EU wide level, in relation to fire safety engineering, with the intention of supporting performance based regulations at a national level.
Other Consortium members were CTICM (France), DIFT (Denmark), IST (Portugal), warringtonfiregent (formerly RUG Belgium) and TNO (Netherlands).
The report of the study was completed and submitted to DG Enterprise. The findings of the study and the responses from various sectors which could be affected by the initiatives were considered at a conference held in 2002 in Luxembourg.
