Fire Resisting Glazing Scheme
Glass is a sophisticated and versatile product on which building designers rely heavily for aesthetics, performance and protection. Specialist fire resisting glasses allow innovative architectural concepts to become a reality if installed correctly.
Using a FIRAS certificated company ensures that installers, assessed by FIRAS for their competence, will be adequately supervised and will only use appropriate glass and glazing systems within their tested and approved scope.
FIRAS installers are required to maintain records of every contract undertaken and to inform FIRAS of all contracts so that random inspections of the installation work can be undertaken.
On completion the company will issue a certificate of conformity and apply a discrete label to the glass with contact details.
The FIRAS scheme for fire resisting glass and glazing systems was developed in conjunction with the Glass and Glazing Federation
Details of companies certificated under the scheme can be found in the Register.
