CERTIFIRE
Leading the way in Product Certification for Passive Fire Protection
For manufacturers, this scheme assures performance, quality, reliability and traceability of all passive fire protection products and systems. The CERTIFIRE brand is recognised by regulatory authorities worldwide as an international mark of fire safety.
CERTIFIRE Register - The register is comprehensive guide to the CERTIFIRE certificated products. It includes the complete field of application for products thus enabling the specifier or enforcement authority to check the suitability of a product for the intended end-use application.
The fundamental benefit of third-party certification is seated in giving the specifier, customer, end-user, regulator - or any combination of these - an informed choice when purchasing or selelcting the product. Choosing a product that carries the badge or mark of reputable third-party certification body gives safeguards as to the performance of the products. Also, in the rare event of a failure, it will help to mitigate against the accusation of possible negligence, which may be directed towards the architect, specifier, main contractor or building owner.
The importance of schemes like CERTIFIRE is recognised in Approved Document B of the Building Regulations (ADB). ADB covers all matters concerning safety within new build construction. The document makes a clear recoomendation for the use of third party certificated products and systems.
With the current drive towards the implementation of the 'Construction Products Regulation' to impose mandatory CE Marking, WCL can offer CE Marking and CERTIFIRE as a package, based on combined requirements.
Warrington Certification Limited's 'Technical Directory of Certificated Products and Services' now incorporates Part 5 which covers Timber Doorsets (including hardware, glazing and seals). It is freely available in CD format or as a download from here
Other parts are to follow shortly, namely Part 6: Fire Stopping (penetration seals, linear gap seals and cavity barriers): Part 7: Steelwork Protection and Part 8: Glass and glazing systems.
