Leading the way in Product Certification for Passive Fire Protection
CERTIFIRE differs from CE Marking in that CE Marking indicates compliance with the minimum regulatory requirements, whereas CERTIFIRE approval indicates that a product meets a more stringent set of standards. This independent third party product certification is at a higher level; a quality mark, designed to enable manufacturers to clearly demonstrate a difference and superiority of their products compared to those which have achieved the basic CE Marking standards.
Additional CERTIFIRE requirements include manufacture under a third party quality management system, independent audit testing and a comprehensive field of application document based on carefully chosen tests that helps to ensure that products and systems are used within their approved scope.
Warrington Certification operates CERTIFIRE schemes in the UK, Australasia & Hong Kong for most passive fire protection products including:
- Fire protection to structural steelwork, paints, sprays and boards
- Cavity barriers / Penetration seals
- Ductwork / Dampers
- Timber fire doors / Non-timber fire doors
- Fire door hardware
- Intumescent and smoke control door edge seals
- Fire resistant glass and glazing systems
- Wood based panel products
The Warrington Certification process
Products must satisfy the requirements of detailed Technical Schedules that prescribe the performance and design characteristics required of a product to perform its fire protection function. Testing for fire performance and other attributes such as mechanical and durability performance is carried out. The Schedules, drafted by industry experts, draw on harmonized European tests where available, or British Standard tests. Type and audit testing is conducted on independently sampled product and manufacture is subject to independent factory production control inspection.
