CERTIFIRE
Leading the way in Product Certification for Passive Fire Protection
To view the CERTIFIRE Register click here
Voluntary certification of construction products with fire performance, is provided by warringtonfire Certification under the CERTIFIRE brand. CERTIFIRE requirements are based on those for CE Marking but whereas the CE Mark reflects compliance with minimum regulatory requirements, CERTIFIRE is independent third party product certification at a higher level, a quality mark, designed to enable manufacturers to demonstrate a difference between their products and those satisfying only the minimum requirement to be placed on the market. The main additional requirements for CERTIFIRE over and above attestation for CE Marking are ISO9001: 2000 certification, independent audit testing and a comprehensive field of application document based on carefully chosen tests.
The scheme is designed to give confidence to specifiers, enforcement authorities and building owners and occupiers. CERTIFIRE is recognised by regulatory authorities both in the UK and overseas
Given the similarities in the basics of certification for both CE marking and CERTIFIRE there are cost benefits in commissioning both together. Although CERTIFIRE has recently been made a European scheme its success to date has been in the UK where over 280 certificates have been issued.
CERTIFIRE operates schemes for most passive fire protection products including:
Fire protection to structural steelwork, cavity barriers,
penetration seals, ductwork,
dampers, fire doors,
intumescent and smoke control door edge seals, fire door hardware,
fire resistant glass and glazing systems

The CERTIFIRE logo and certification mark have recently changed as part of the new warringtonfire overhaul of its corporate ID. For some time both old and new marks will coexist so it is important that their equivalence is recognised. Below are shown the old and new marks with their designated uses:
Rules for use of the logo and certification mark are available from CERTIFIRE.
CERTIFIRE process
Products must satisfy the requirements of detailed Technical Schedules that prescribes the performance and design characteristics required of a product to satisfactorily perform its fire protection function. The Schedules, drafted by experts largely from manufacturers, draw on British or harmonized European tests where available and are state-of-the-art performance specifications.
CERTIFIRE Technical Schedules – the technical specifications against which certification is awarded
CERTIFIRE Register – The Register is a comprehensive guide to the CERTIFIRE certificated products. It includes the complete field of application for products thus enabling the specifier or enforcement authority to check the suitability of a product for the intended end-use application.
CERTIFIRE overseas – UK issued CERTIFIRE certificates are accepted in a number of countries in addition to the UK. However, if your markets include Australasia and Hong Kong, CERTIFIRE Australia and CERTIFIRE Hong Kong are there with certification designed to address the specific local requirements.
